True Colours - Call for Youth Artists

PoMoArts is a not-for-profit community arts education centre and contemporary art gallery located in Port Moody, BC. We have committed to develop, promote, and celebrate positive arts experiences. With the True Colours exhibition and events, we are striving to create a safe, and welcoming space for Tri-City LGBTQ2S+ youth, their families, and their allies, where they are respected for their differences and their unique contributions.

With the help of our Youth Advisory Committee PoMoArts is planning True Colours, a celebration for Pride Month in June 2022. It revolves around several events, including an exhibition of artwork by local queer-identifying youth artists (age 14-18). The goal is to encourage and promote inclusivity and diversity within the Tri-Cities arts community among our young people.

For the True Colours exhibition PoMoArts is inviting youth artists in School District 43 (Port Moody, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Anmore and Belcarra) to submit original artwork that explores themes of identity, family and culture.

The exhibition will run from June 1st – June 26th, with an opening reception on June 1st. Other events during Pride Month include arts workshops, a speaker event for youth by professional artists from the LGBTQ2S community and an outdoor community Family Pride Day with artists, art activities, and youth performers.
