Artist Statement
I am a multi-disciplinary artist living on unceded Coast Salish territories belonging to the xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaʔɬ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) First Nations I work in mixed media combinations of drawing, painting, and collage. My work also expands to include animation, ceramics, book and zine making, performance, and new media. My subject matter investigates parallel universes teeming with invented creatures based on familiar objects and symbols, and ponders their reflection in our internal landscapes. My past work includes collaborative animation, community-led arts programming, a recent municipal commission, and thirteen years of managing community bike shops. I sat on the board of UNIT/PITT Society for Art and Critical Awareness, and am represented by the Vancouver Art Gallery’s Art Rental and Sales program. I am a co-founder of Bike Saviours Bicycle Collective, Tempe Zine Fest, the Vancouver Community Bike Shop Network, and VR Club, and am an Assistant Professor of Art at Emily Carr University of Art and Design.
