Hello and welcome to my page, I am a Ceramic Artist
PROFILE I am a retired senior, living on the Sunshine Coast, BC. I work with clay creating curious and whimsical art pieces. I use glazes for both electric and RAKU processes. My work has been created from home and at Gleneagles studio ( West Vancouver). Currently I am exploring creations made with a different medium( Sculpey- polymer clay), in a series of whimsical robots to serve as inspiration to children into an easier or pre-clay creative form. EXPERIENCE Art Administration - 2014 Treasurer and Board Member - Gibson’s Public Art Gallery Clay Artist — 2015 - Present I have taken instruction on RAKU from Louisa Liebman at Glen Eagles Studio. I have also been a member at Parkgate Studio under the direction of Liz de Beer. I have participated in numerous class and public firings in both studios. Exhibitions — 2015 - Present In the recent past (2015-2020), my pieces (approx. 24) were displayed throughout BlueShore Financial branches in the Greater Vancouver District and Sea to Sky Highway region, under their Arts in View Program. Artist Statement
I believe the whimsical form of my work helps to make the connection between imagination and creativity of form. It is through the light-hearted view of art that a child may expand their view of what can be possible. This year my creations can inspire imaginations in children and adults. The characters depict human emotions and traits in a fun way. I also submitted a garden totem that is a sea-themed collaboration with fellow artist Nancy Cramer. The fun theme “seas the moment” shows a fisherman trying catch a fish that is trying escape from a grouper’s mouth. We hope the fun effect will encourage young minds to realize working together cooperatively can produce unique results.
