Guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Marc Rivest has been making a career in music for the last 15 years. As a guitarist, Marc is an alumnus of Capilano University's esteemed Jazz Studies program. At Cap U, he studied under some of Western Canada's top instructors including Juno nominee Bill Coon and the Hard Rubber Orchestra's Ron Samworth. As a songwriter, Marc performs and records under the name “ReeVay.” Recent highlights include winning a Fraser Valley Music Award in 2022, being nominated for an additional FVMA in 2023, and showcasing at a variety of festivals across BC and Alberta.

Artist Statement
As an instructor, his approach to lessons aims to develop technique and repertoire with a friendly, student-focused teaching style. Marc’s students have gone on to earn top marks on RCM exams, successfully audition for postsecondary music programs, win awards for their musicianship, and be cast in singing roles on Netflix productions. Marc is thrilled to bring his teaching practice to PoMoArts.
In addition to teaching his main instrument of guitar, Marc also teaches ukulele, bass guitar, and songwriting/composition. Whether you're just starting out or have some experience, he can help you on your musical journey. From pop to jazz to classical, he’s here to guide you in exploring your favourite music, and he can teach anyone aged 5+.
