Hello and welcome to my page, I am a Visual Artist

Kristian Adam is a Canadian artist. His paintings often combine themes of nature and invention from the humorous perspective of animals which he refers to as 'NymNums’. These imagined creatures are what you might expect to see wandering around in his mind all day. Through a variety of techniques inspired by the old masters, Adam creates quirky narratives for his characters to tell. Recurring themes of nature in his work are inspired from his childhood living in the country. Born 1978 in Edmonton, Alberta, Kristian has always enjoyed making art. In high school, he began to learn airbrushing techniques from books and magazines, and from there his passion grew. He graduated from Grande Prairie Regional College in 1998, and then went on to pursue fine art studies at the University of Lethbridge. His work has been displayed in the Canadian Embassies of Japan, Korea, and China and large events such as the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics and Telus World Ski and Snow Festival. His paintings have been featured in books, television and galleries around the world. He currently resides in Langley, BC.

Artist Statement

Nature continues to be a large source of inspiration for my paintings. Through a blend of fantasy and reality I find myself exploring new worlds and imaginary creatures in search of new ideas.
