Nowruz, “New Day” in Persian, is an ancient festival that marks the beginning of spring and celebrates the rebirth of nature. Nowruz begins at the stroke of the vernal equinox when the sun crosses the equator. Millions of people of all religions, various ethnic groups and cultures gather around a ceremonial table known as Haft-Seen.
The Haftseen Table is decorated with 7 items which begin with the Persian language letter “Seen” (S) and each item is a symbol of spring and renewal including:
On March 16th, we will gather to celebrate Nowruz around the Haft-Seen table, which has been designed and decorated by Ms. Leila Varasteh, and listen to music and poetry.
