About PoMoArts

PoMoArts, the Port Moody Arts Centre Society, is a vibrant arts centre in the heart of Port Moody. We are a cultural hub for arts and education with a mission to promote participation in the arts through a wide range of artistic practices and disciplines for people of all ages and experience levels. We are home to a public art gallery that showcases the work of emerging and established artists in a variety of medium through a curated exhibition program. We bring art into our community through various events and art experiences, working closely with municipal and community initiatives each year.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced program manager that is detail oriented and creative, balancing the administration work behind the scenes and the delivery of art experiences that change perspectives and positively impact participants of all ages. Our Program Manager leads a diverse team of arts instructors in visual, theatre, fiber & textiles, music, and media arts. We are continually expanding the artistic disciplines we offer and want you to build our artistic base with us. You will work closely with our Ceramics Manager who runs our popular ceramics studio and leads our ceramics programming. We have many relationships in the local community with schools, local shops, and the local brewery district offering programs in and outside of the centre.

Job Description

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Program Manager is responsible for all aspects of arts programming at PoMoArts, including leading a team of arts instructors, building our annual program, and engaging our community. The Program Manager oversees the work of our Ceramics Manager who is responsible for studio technician work and management, as well as managing ceramics staff, ceramics program planning and implementation, and ceramics expenses.

Responsibilities & Duties:

-Plan and oversee the delivery of all PoMoArts programs, in accordance with the mission and goals as established by Board of Directors and Executive Director

-Develop new program initiatives to support the strategic direction as established by Board of Directors and Executive Director

-Draft and manage an annual programming budget in collaboration with the Ceramics Manager, including financial targets for annual program revenue

-Develop and implement a program evaluation framework to assess the strengths of each program and identify areas for improvement

-Actively recruit new arts instructors as needed and ensure instructors contracts are accurate and consistent with applicable Employment Standards

-Train and manage all personnel related to the arts education program

-Work with arts instructor to develop program content

-Oversee and manage the online program registration system, ensuring all class information is input correctly, providing clear instructions and follow-up information as needed to the Customer Service team for facilitate registrations, cancellations, and any program or system related changes, ensuring our high standard of customer service

-Ensure that all Occupational Health and Safety Regulations are met for all PoMoArts programs

-In conjunction with the Executive Director, develop new or adjust existing policies and procedures as needed, including COVID-19 related policies and protocols, ensuring that arts education personnel are trained and that policies and procedures are being consistently and properly applied daily.

-Working with our Marketing Coordinator to design, produce and print program brochures and other promotional materials

-Providing information for social media and website maintenance, ensuring that all content is approved by the Executive Director before it goes live

-Explore the arts community in Port Moody and the area, so as to have an understanding of what program opportunities exist locally

-Work with other organizations and businesses build collaborative opportunities

-Proposing new ventures that can serve the Arts Centre, its members, intended audiences, artist groups, appropriate community groups, etc.

-Managing program volunteers to assist with program needs as required

-Provide support to the Executive Director in the development of funding proposals to ensure the continuous delivery of program services

-Supporting sponsorship and fundraising initiatives as required

-Support, and at times lead, other programs and events that the Arts Centre leads or participates in, as assigned.

-Any other tasks that may be reasonably required of this position.

Qualifications & Ideal Candidate

-Minimum 2 years of experience in arts education program management or comparable experience. Experience in communications planning, market analysis, benchmarking, and community engagement is an asset.

-Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills with a solution-oriented approach

-Demonstrated HR management experience, with excellent supervisory and team building skills.

-Excellent budget management skills, including program pricing, writing contracts, and establishing internal controls.

-Excellent communicator, able to adapt communication style for various situations, personalities, and audiences.

-Experience with occupational health and safety, including MSDS and WHIMIS and/or creating health and safety policy and procedure for arts programs

-Self-motivated, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment

-Strong organization and time management skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities

-Strategic and creative thinker with a focus on organizing details

-Knowledge of and personal interest in a wide variety of artistic practices and the latest trends in community arts education programming

-Proficiency with online program registration systems & databases (experience with XplorRec and ASAP is considered a major asset)

-Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) Google Calendars & Docs, Jotform

-Understanding of Port Moody/Tri-Cities’ artistic & cultural landscape considered a major asset.

-Ability to pass a satisfactory criminal and vulnerable sector record check

-First Aid, CPR and AED certificate is an asset

-Multilingual capacity is considered an asset.

Benefits of the Role

This is a salary role with an excellent benefits package and vacation days. The salary range is $50,000-$55,000 per year depending on experience. We have team building activities through out the year and make time to make art together.
