Hello and welcome to my page, I am a Fibre Artist
With a wealth of life experience living and travelling throughout different cultures, Nikki brings a broad perspective into anything she teaches. A local BC resident by birth, she has made her home in the Tri-Cities and has been teaching art outside of school for several years. Within the classroom, Nikki has been using multi media art creations to support her curriculum for over 15 years, and has been recognized by the BC Superintendent of Education for her successful implementation of modern teaching practice. Nikki has given seminars to other educators, and continues to learn from those around her, as she develops herself as a teacher and a parent.

Artist Statement
Nikki has been a professional educator for over 20 years, teaching Elementary school classes at a variety of grade levels. She believes that art plays a role in both creativity and expression, and has used a variety of mediums within the classroom to support her curriculum. Using STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) based educational methods, Nikki strives to develop the overall student by combining Art into a multi faceted educational approach which fosters a love for learning and a joy in creativity. As a post graduate student, specializing in STEAM based education, Nikki has studied current research into how combining educational disciplines with a focus on engaging creativity allows children to excel in a greater range of academic pursuits. Using hands on art projects to support novel studies, and incorporating play based math applications, Nikki has found that students become better engaged, both with the material at hand, and with their fellow classmates. Nikki is currently focusing on using the medium of felting to create a variety of wonderful creations. Using wire armatures as a base, the needle felted creations are fully poseable and perfect for stop motion animation and craft projects. Wet felted projects are another wonderful way in which Nikki uses natural, organic, wool fibre to create beautiful creations in a multitude of themes.
