Hello and welcome to my page, I am a Visual Artist, Ceramic Artist
Emilie Nunez is a visual artist and illustrator. Working in a variety of mediums: acrylic, gouache and watercolour paintings, and handmade ceramic art. Emilie Nunez grew up in Alberta and BC. When she was 12, she moved from the flat plains of Alberta to the mountains and rainforests of BC. This shift of environments formed a connection between her landscapes and her personal experiences, inspiring a narrative quality in her work. Her interest in representing women started with painting her mom while she was undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Emilie did this to remind her mom how beautiful and strong she is. Inspired by the strength her mom showed, and women everywhere who go through the same thing, she has continued painting women ever since her mom was cancer free! Emilie received her BFA in Visual Art from The University of British Columbia in 2017. Emilie lives and works from her home studio in Maple Ridge, BC.

Emilie Nunez’s artwork combines landscape painting with portraits of women. Inspired by the flora and fauna of BC, she creates made up vibrant landscapes full of little details and patterns. Emilie’s illustrative paintings feature women as the heroines, all in their own world full of hidden meanings and stories. She looks at women’s connection with our natural world, looking at the similarities we share. Both in constant cycles of loss, re-growth, strength and resilience. Emilie focuses on the magic and the importance of our connection to our natural world, so that we can look at our actions that negatively affect it at a time when it is so fragile.
