Hello and welcome to my page, I am a Visual Artist
Although Gwen has always had in interest in creative activities, it was not until her retirement that painting became a part of her life. She began by taking art classes from prominent artists. She attended workshops with the White Rock School of Art as well as The Federation of Canadian Artists. She has found that painting enhances her awareness of the world around her with its endless variety of shapes and colours. She enjoys the process, the challenge and the satisfaction of creating paintings in her personal style, and not necessarily realistically. Born and raised in B.C., she currently resides in Aldergrove, where she enjoys a semi-rural lifestyle. Painting, to her, has become a consuming interest, and she can't imagine life without it. Gwen is a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, The Port Kells Art Club and the South Surrey and White Rock Art Society.

Samples of my work
Having had the good fortune to see all of Canada's provinces and territories, I have gained an awareness of the amazing variety of our landscapes. I particularly enjoy remote areas, places to stop and stay awhile, surrounded by the sights and the sounds of nature. These experiences have been an inspiration for my subject matter, but my paintings stray from realism. Without the expectation of depicting a landscape the way it actually appears, I can enjoy more freedom to explore and to create landscape features that may be simplified, exaggerated or stylized. Thank you to Mother Nature for the beautiful scenes all around us.
