Hello and welcome to my page, I am a Visual Artist
Caroline has always been in the creative world, starting with a degree in Journalism and Theatre Arts. She worked for many years in the newspaper industry in South Africa – mostly in editing and design. She moved to Canada 30 years ago and spent many years focussing on raising her two children. She re-trained as an ESL teacher in Canada and spent many years teaching English to immigrants and refugees. All this time Caroline kept being pulled towards her love for colour, design, flowers and a need to express something that reflected both her free and adventurous life growing up on a farm in South Africa and the vast magnificence of the landscape in Canada. She attends workshops regularly and loves, reading about art and trying out various mediums and techniques. She has Active Status with the Federation of Canadian Artists and is a member of the White Rock South Surrey Art Society. She has exhibited her work at numerous shows in White Rock and in Vancouver.

CAROLINE BAASCH ART My art is about freedom, spontaneity and the joy of self expression. It’s about colour, playfulness and exploration. I am always inspired by the outdoors and in particular by flowers – by their boundless gifts of colour, style, smell, elegance – but mostly by their joyful generosity. I find working on large canvasses and in mixed media gives me the freedom to express the delight I feel in front of a huge vase of fresh flowers. I love working in layers – adding, removing, adding, removing and adding again, each layer revealing surprises and informing the next. I enjoy painting on larger canvasses - 36 x 48 being my favourite size – but most of my work is available in giclees and prints as well – as large or small as you choose – as well as greeting cards.
